Jay Montgomery

THE ARTIST Jay Montgomery is a full-time freelance illustrator and longtime back pain sufferer. Diagnosed with slight curvature of the spine and a short leg, Montgomery has received physical therapy and medication over the years. He attributes the aggravation of his pain to his line of work, which sometimes requires him to spend long hours in front of a drawing board or computer screen. “My orthopaedic condition has affected my life on a daily basis for over 12 years.” Montgomery has actually found his situation to be a great motivation as well: “Having my chronic back pain has helped me not lead a totally sedentary lifestyle and forced me to get exercise and treat my posture and overall body much better than if I had no pain to begin with. I can manage my pain now with my passion for art and wellness of my body.”
