Echoing Sir Issac Newton's famous sentiment, fifteen members of the Academy's Leadership Fellows Program embarked on a history-preserving class project entitled "Presidential Reflections." In preparation of the 75th Anniversary of the Academy in 2008, Leadership Fellows interviewed all twenty-eight living past presidents. The interviews were an opportunity to visit with these former presidents, learn from their experiences and assemble a permanent record of their reflections on leadership, the Academy and the orthopaedic profession.

The Leadership Fellows are a select group of fifteen Academy Fellows under the age of forty-five who are undergoing a year of leadership training. The annual program is designed to provide the Academy with a cadre of future leaders. A class project is one aspect of this program that allows Leadership Fellows to learn about the Academy, the qualities of leadership, and to make a lasting contribution to orthopaedic history.
